I wrote about winter safety a few days ago, which you can find here. This is a continuation of that post, with some more winter safety tips. Let’s talk about ways that you can stay safe this winter.
Make Sure Your Mobility Devices are Ready
Take steps to prepare your mobility devices for weather. One of the things that you can do is make sure that your tires have enough air in them and make sure you monitor how fast the battery is draining, according to Mobility2You. If you use mobility devices, look into what you need to do for your specific device.
Hydrate
There are certain things that people know to do in the summer that they don’t always follow through on in the winter. It is just as important to hydrate in the winter as the summer. Also make sure you are hydrating your skin, as it can be more fragile as you age and in cold weather. Sunscreen is still vital in the winter as well. These things are going to contribute to your health and safety in the winter.
Medication Management
Make sure you talk about your doctor about what would happen if winter weather was about to hit around when you’d need a refill of your medications. It depends on the medication, but they may be able to get you a small supply in advance of your refill. This does not apply to all medications, this is not medical advice. This advice is that you should go talk to your doctor about a plan in case weather closes the pharmacy.
Thank you all and I will see you later this week!
