After the 4th of July last weekend, I would like to talk about the importance of hiring a caregiver for you or your loved one just for holidays. There are various reasons why an older adult may find going to holiday gatherings difficult: equipment like oxygen tanks, mobility issues, or cognitive decline restricting their ability to help cook or bring a dish. They may choose to stay home rather than spend time with their family because they don’t want to feel like a burden. Loneliness and isolation should not and are not the only options for older adults who may need help during holiday gatherings.
We offer caregiver holiday services. We have caregivers of all different skill levels and abilities, who are able to help your loved one. Need someone to assist them with walking? We have a caregiver who can help. Need someone to help them cook or clean before or after the event? We have a caregiver for that. We can help your loved one regardless of their level of need. All you have to do is call us, and then relax with your loved one while we take care of the rest.
For some people, this is not an option because they want to be the one caring for their older adult loved one. To those people I say, there is no right way to help the ones you love, so if you don’t feel like a holiday caregiver is best for your family, I will never tell you otherwise.
To those of you who are interested, I hope that I’ve answered some questions about the importance of hiring a caregiver for you or your loved one just for holidays. I would encourage you to check out our Facebook page here.
