In a few days is my personal favorite part of Thanksgiving week: Giving Tuesday. The Tuesday after Thanksgiving is dedicated to giving back to our communities. I have compiled a short list of organizations that support older adults. If you have any other places that you like to give to, leave it in a comment down below! And of course, money is not the only
Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels is a great organization that delivers meals to millions of seniors, according to their website. They are pretty well-known so I won’t go into the nitty gritty too much here, but they deliver meals to seniors who are the most in-need. For many, Meals on Wheels is essential and they may not have the same access to meals without it. They are also funded by Congress, so even if you can’t donate yourself, you can help them out by lobbying your representatives to increase their funding.
Pets for the Elderly
Pets for the Elderly is a dedicated to finding companion animals for older adults. They partner with shelters all around the country and they are partnered with a shelter in Oldham County!
Justice in Aging
Justice in Aging focuses on advocating for the rights of seniors in the legal system, with a particular focus on marginalized seniors, according to their website. They have a very robust program that advocates for change in multiple ways, I highly recommend checking them out.
Where are you giving this Tuesday? Let us know!
