Our home care promotes safety in numerous ways. I actually did a whole mini-series on different safety-related topics, so if you want some more in-depth information, be sure to check that out. Today we will focus more on the different aspects of our care and how those aspects promote safety.
The Office
When you become one of our clients, a member of the office team will visit your house and do a safety evaluation. We can recommend ways to make your house safer (such as adding grab bars or other equipment in your house). We also promote the safety of our clients through how we train our caregivers. For example, we make sure that our caregivers know to never move your furniture around, because doing so creates a fall risk for our clients. We will also convey any safety concerns that our caregivers may have noticed during their shifts. This does not happen too often but we are definitely thankful when our caregivers do bring up something concerning, since we do not accompany them to their shifts.
The Caregivers
Our caregivers are not only on the lookout for safety concerns. They also, depending on the client, can provide assistance to help you transfer, walk, or perform certain tasks. They are making sure that you are able to do those things safely with a qualified caregiver right there. Some of our most experienced caregivers who are also CNAs may even be able to operate certain lifts that you have in your home.
